About The Wildlife Current
Origin, description, purpose, and goals of The Wildlife Current
What is The Wildlife Current
The Wildlife Current is an independent publication launched in May 2026 by Dr. Greg Forcey. Greg is a wildlife biologist with over 20 years of experience as a consultant studying the impacts of energy infrastructure on wildlife, both onshore and offshore. With the exploding demand for energy, it’s more important than ever to understand how energy demands and infrastructure buildout impact wildlife.
The Wildlife Current reports on the intersection of wildlife and the impacts of energy development and operations. The goal of this publication is to make studies, research, and publications accessible to a wide audience. Accessible information can help guide decision-making, so potential impacts will be better understood as energy demands grow. Some of the topics that we’ll cover include
- Wildlife collisions and displacement from wind turbines
- Habitat impacts from energy development
- Collisions, electrocutions, and habitat fragmentation caused by electrical wires, substations, and power line corridors
- Impacts from climate change caused by the burning of fossil fuels
- Technology used for studying wildlife and energy
The Wildlife Current does not advocate for or against any particular energy source. Our goal is to provide objective reporting on wildlife and energy research, allowing readers to draw their own conclusions.
